For 20 years, several generations have succeeded each other at the head of the organization of the Aves Photo Expos as well as numerous volunteers contributing to their realization, making them a little more professional each time. During these 20 years, our event has always lit that little spark in the eyes of photographers, our warm welcome, our conviviality and our sense of celebration having no equal.
We have welcomed photographers and artists from all over the world, some of the greatest, sometimes at the dawn of their global success. We shared with them and with you great moments of photography but also memorable festive moments, some photos of which will remain confidential forever. In short, we have the feeling of having done the best that we wanted and could do in the niche and the spirit that was close to our hearts.
20 years later, the world and mentalities have evolved, nature wildlife photography has changed somewhat, images have invaded the web and social networks and it seems to us that the surprises and exclusives which were the richness of festivals are tending somewhat. little to fade. We have to be honest, we are feeling the first symptoms of routine...
For a voluntary organization which has no other ambition than to transmit respect for nature, to give pleasure but also to take it, the question is then very simple: "Do we still take as much pleasure in organizing this event in view of the efforts and stress made throughout the year, particularly by the few people who take on the majority of the work? We consulted and the answer is “no”… So we don’t want to organize the edition too much.
This decision is in no way justified by a lack of financial resources, nor by a lack of volunteers (whom we would like to thank again), nor by any competition with other festivals, but only by the balance between the efforts made to the organization and the pleasure of doing it.
So it is very calmly, but with a lot of emotion, that we close the book on the “Expos Photos Aves” festival in its current form… but who knows if the future will not see the birth of a new formula… we are thinking about it.

The team is still very present and continues to meet regularly to prepare and organize the Emotion’Ailes Competition and honor the most talented photographers!
We therefore invite you to participate very soon by sending your most beautiful bird photos to exposaves.be for the 22nd edition of the Aves Emotion’Ailes photo competition.
The exhibition of the winners will take place in September as usual! It will be possible to discover again at Saint-Aubain Cathedral the most beautiful photographs of the winged people! from August 31 to September 29.

An Emotion’Ailes Competition that will travel!
In the meantime, we invite our partners, festival organizers and cultural project managers to contact us now, to plan the 2024 and 2025 road book for the Emotion’Ailes exhibition. We intend to have these magnificent prints travel to the four corners of Belgium and beyond throughout the year. It is important for us to continue to raise public awareness as much as possible of the need to preserve biodiversity which has become so fragile.
We will be sure to keep you informed of the events in which we will participate.
