When Hans and Kristel took their first trip through Costa Rica in 2015, they were immediately seized of the biodiversity of Latin America. The fascination for the hummingbirds originated here. There are over 360 different species that are mainly found in South America. In 2020 we made our trip through Ecuador accompanied by 50 kg of photographic material. A hummingbird visits about 1000 flowers a day and are attracted by red and orange. Hummingbirds are the only birds that can fly forward and backward, stand still in the air, fly sideways and upside down.
